The 31st annual International Prayer Breakfast will be held Tuesday, September
13th at the UN. This week our Christian Embassy team has been taking care of
details, calling the missions to obtain RSVPs, and preparing for the follow-up
and weekly ministry that will start in October.
However, we know that the real work of the event is done in the heavenly places
as we bring our requests before the Father. Please join us praying:
•Pray for God to fill the room with 250-300 guests! There will be ambassadors
and diplomats from most of the 193 countries represented at the UN.
• Pray! This year, for the first time in the 31 year history of this event, the
Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, will attend and will deliver brief remarks. In
addition, both the President of the 70th General Assembly, Mr. Mogens
Lykketoftof Denmark, and the President-elect of the 71st General Assembly, Mr.
Peter Thomson of Fiji, will be attending. This is a first, and we are looking
forward to having these three gentlemen and their wives present with us.
• Pray that God prepares the hearts of those who come. Pray that they will
experience God’s presence and will hear His message for them as they honor
him in prayer. Pray that those who do not yet know him will respond to the
message and desire follow-up.
• Pray for Dr. Billy Kim of Korea as he delivers his message. Pray that God would
speak through him to the hearts of the diplomats.
•Pray for the others on the program: For the Secretary-General as he delivers his
remarks, the ambassador who will chair the event, other ambassadors who will
either deliver a prayer or read Scripture; for the vocalist, Nathaniel Hackmann.
•Pray over every aspect of the morning – that there will be no last-minute meetings
pulling diplomats away; for weather, traffic, sound and other logistics to go
•Pray that Jesus Christ will be glorified at this event! Pray, as this event, designed
to acknowledge the sovereignty of God over all peoples and nations and
invoke His wisdom and blessing on those involved in the work of the
United Nations, that indeed courses of history will be changed.
•Pray that our team will have many diplomats to follow-up as a result of this
