Chasing Vines by Beth Moore

“This was my favorite Beth Moore yet! All of the ladies in the RISE bible study agreed that Beth did an incredible job of thoroughly breaking down John 15 and the visual of the vine and vineyard to help us better understand the ultimate Vinedresser. We were captivated and inspired with every page! Fruitfulness happens amidst the Harvest. We are together, all in process, clinging to the vine, growing fruit for the kingdom of God!”

In His Image by Jen Wilkin

“I would recommend this book because it answers the question, “What does it mean to be created in the image of God?” in a unique way. Jen says that we are image bearers. “Everything we do or say will either illuminate or obscure the character of God.” That can be scary because every day we fall short. However, she goes on to show that the process of sanctification that God works in us is the “process of growing luminous.”

Jen is quick to point out that these character qualities of God that she delves deeply into …holiness.. mercy…faithfulness…truthful…loving..etc. are NOT character qualities that we develop to show God’s image. Instead, God grows these qualities (HIS qualities) in us as we live and journey forward with him. We don’t try to become these things. It is HIS work! Jen claims that “there is a difference between self-help and sanctification, and that difference is the motive of the heart.”

Includes questions and verses for reflection and prayer at the end of each chapter.

This book has focused me on specific characteristics of God and allowed me to see how he is working His image out in my life.”
