Coming into this summer my strongest desire is to help the youth of FCC see Jesus working in the world all around them and fall in love with who He is! So often we hear about Jesus doing cool stuff and speaking into other people's lives, but we don't think that kind of relationship is possible for us. Especially in the busyness of high school, it can be so easy to live a "Christian life" but miss out on the best part which is a genuine and completely life transforming relationship with God!
Through the different camps and trips this summer, I'm praying that the students will discover how much God loves them and cares about their life, while also realizing how big His plan for the world is and how they get to play an exciting role in it. So much of this happens through relationships with others: their leaders, their fellow students and the people they will be serving, so part of our mission as leaders is to create situations and environments where those relationships can deepen and grow, both edifying and challenging the students. When we leave our comfort zones and daily rhythms, we see new sides of our selves, of others and of God, and I'm praying that those new experiences will leave the students at the end of the summer feeling more in love with Jesus and ready to go back into their schools, sports teams and communities excited to see Him working there as well!!
