Some urgent needs have come up in the village.
Half of our team, consisting of the Pehrson family and Missy Smith headed towards Arop village on Thursday, but they only got as far as Aitape town because of very bad flooding. Thankfully they were able to overnight in Aitape at a guesthouse and did finally make it to Arop on Friday. But, getting to the village has brought a new set of difficulties. Ben wrote:
We did make it safe to the village yesterday. The road is getting really torn up again after a few good years. Going through one "pot hole" I saw the muddy water flow up over the hood of our tall pickup truck. Good thing it had a snorkel and the 4WD was working.
Please pray for us. Some of our crew are very sick. I threw my back out last week. We arrived to find our newly improved local network not functioning. During our absence, some of the project buildings were broken into, and the lack of cooperation between some local church leaders also has a direct effect on our translation project.
I am weak. Lord, you be strong.
Please pray for them as they are setting up computers and getting ready for a workshop to translate 1 John starting Tuesday next week. The rest of the team heads out next week to join the others for the workshop, Lord willing and the creek don't rise...
Thank you for praying with us, Beth
