Alpha and Alpha Youth
Begins Jan 17th
Are you looking for an on-ramp? Alpha is your on-ramp to faith, to friendships, and to meaningful connection with the FCC family. If you're trying to figure out what you believe, or want to meet some new friends to discuss matters of faith over dinner and in small group discussion, then please take ALPHA. Alpha is a 9-week course running on Wednesday evenings beginning on January 17th. It is totally free, includes dinner each night, childcare, and offers tracks for teens and adults.
The Alpha course is a practical introduction to the Christian faith that gives guests an opportunity to explore the meaning of life. Alpha is fun, relaxed and totally non-pressured (that’s probably why over 19 mil. people around the world have already done it!).
Listen, learn, discuss, and discover. Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is off limits.
ALPHA'S THREE MAIN ELEMENTS - Good food, Alpha talk, Discussion
HOW DOES IT WORK? Each Alpha course session begins with food, followed by a short talk looking at a different aspect of the Christian faith. After that, there is a time for discussion in a friendly small group.
WHO IS ALPHA FOR? Alpha is for everyone, especially: those who have given up on church, those wanting to investigate Christianity, those who are new to the Christian faith, and those wanting to grow in understanding and faith.
WHAT IS THE COST? There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may be asked to make a contribution toward food.
Thinking Like a Christian - Seminar
January 12, 7-8:45pm and January 13, 9-11:45am
Childcare through 10 years provided.
I am extremely excited about this class, and nervous about it as well. I am nervous, because we are raising and addressing some of the most challenging questions facing Christians today. But, I am excited, because I feel we need to take these topics head on, even when we find that we don't agree on our responses to all of them.
This seminar is designed to help us "think like Christians". Our conclusions on some issues, our convictions on some practices, and our way of responding to some questions from people around us, may not all be the same. But, there are principles that are foundationally Christian, that are ancient/timeless and true, that need to be applied to all the above. It is those principles we will be addressing and trying to flesh out thru discussion together.
We will be watching and discussing video clips, both from popular movies, and from talks of leading cultural influencers. We will have focused times to discuss these topics in both smaller groups and the large group sessions. If you have been in conversations with classmates, teachers, co-workers, relatives, and/or friends about gender/sexuality questions, the exclusivity of Christianity, atheism, science and the Bible, a good God and evil in the world, immigration, gun control, racial tensions, how to know God's will, etc, etc., I invite you to join us for this Friday evening, Saturday morning seminar. We will not give exhaustive answers to these questions, but we hope to provide a biblical framework, centered in Jesus' teaching, to address them.
This is our 2nd time offering this course. The course will include changes in content, based on new cultural issues that have become prominent. Two years ago 300 adults attended this course!
Childcare is offered for this course up through 10 years. Please also register your children so we can have enough childcare workers.
Ongoing Events & Registrations
Financial Peace University
This is a plan, based on Biblical principles, for getting out of debt and saving for retirement. You don't have to live in constant stress every month when the money runs out. Your work and money is meant for so much more than just paying credit card bills. There is hope for you!
SCHEDULE: 9 Sundays starting 1/14/2018, 6-7:30pm (Don't worry, we won't meet during the Super Bowl!) We have free childcare for 3 year olds to 6th grade.
Here's a plan to leave the stress behind:
1. Buy your FPU materials at the link here. https://fpu.com/1051039
2. Come to our meetings for support in reaching your goals.
3. Get financial PEACE and lose the financial stress!
Here are some things to know:
1. The people who run this course are volunteer coordinators. That means we are not financial advisors or life insurance salesmen. We don't want your money!
2. We are not here to judge you for past mistakes- we are here to support you to make a positive change and smart financial decisions.
3. If you do the things in this program, you will end the 9 weeks in a better position than where you started.
Who runs this?
A husband and wife team coordinate the FPU class. We know it works because we've paid off a large amount of student loans and paid off our car loan. We know how it feels to make dumb financial mistakes, and we know that there is hope to recover from them.

Passion is the active and vibrant expression of individual giftings and talents that invigorates an unreserved extension of the heart and hand.
Purpose allows us to respond to the call over our lives and is the driving force behind what we’ve been prepared in advance to do.
Potential is the untapped, God-given power in us to multiply all that we have been entrusted with. It is the residing capacity that propels us beyond horizontal boundaries and is released by the limitless nature of God.
Family in Focus Community Groups
Restarting in January
Community groups are at the core of everything we do, so we provide as many opportunities as possible for you to connect and do life with other people at your stage of life. Family in Focus community groups will be restarting this January and we'd like you to join. The groups meet Sunday nights from 6 to 7:45 at the church, and there is a children's program called FUSE running in the gym up through 6th grade.

Parking Lot Attendants - Help Needed
We want to welcome people better... starting in our parking lot.
Our parking lot team is trying to build the teams for holidays and beyond. We are looking for additional staff before the 11am service (need to be out there by 10:40am and stay until 11:10am). We really feel that this is the first line of welcomers to newer people at our church, so come and be a part of this critical team.
