Living Wisely in Uncertain Times
Pastor Mike preaches from Ecclesiastes 9:11–11:6 teaches that life “under the sun” is uncertain: the swift, strong, and wise do not always succeed because time and chance affect everyone, and trouble falls suddenly like fish in a net or birds in a snare, so believers should number their days. Solomon’s example of a poor wise man saving a city shows wisdom is better than force, yet wisdom is often forgotten and can be undone when “one sinner destroys much good.” Ecclesiastes 10 develops how folly spoils good, corrupts leadership, ignores danger, multiplies reckless words, and weakens a nation, while calling for calm under rulers and submission to Scripture even on uncomfortable topics like authority. Ecclesiastes 11 urges faithful risk, avoiding decision paralysis, and active trust in God’s sovereign, unknowable work, concluding with a prayer to fix anxious eyes on the Lord.
